Following hot on the (still smouldering) heels of our critical and commercial success, White Mink : Black Cotton (the double album of Electro Swing versus Speakeasy Jazz) and the sold-out events, we are proud to continue in the same vein with Jem Stone’s ELECTRIC CIRCUS EP.
Jem will need no introduction to breakbeat fans. Read his biog for more info if you're not already familiar with his FInger Lickin' Records.
Jem and his world-class VJ and animator wife, Mischa (Pete Tong/Groove Armada) have collaborated on the superb TELEPARP video below to support the release. They will be bringing to their live VJ sets to electro swing nights soon.
The EP has met with a great critical reception. iDJ mag described it as "Criminally funky" giving it a 9/10. Hear why in our webshop here.
Jem Stone, as well as being a third of the legendary breakbeat label Finger Lickin' was also the man behind their distinctive artwork. Having recently released the swinging Electric Circus EP on Freshly Squeezed he has been redesigning some of our artwork too.
Below are the first 4 of about 12 new sticker designs. (Click on the design to see a larger version.) We will be working our way through all 12 in the coming years...
We are printing up limited edition real stickers of the designs 4 at a time. Come and ask us for some (free) at any live event or shop at our ebay shop and we will include some with your purchase.
Jem has also turned his skills to redesigning our 12" single house bag which all new vinyl releases now come in...
Nick Hollywood interviewed about electro-swing prior to the first club night in Brighton at the Komedia with the Movits! from Sweden.
The White Mink club will now launch on the 3rd Friday of every month in the new Brighton Ballroom (formerly the Hanbury Ballroom) from September 17th.
After the phenomental success of the album, we are taking the show on the road.
In addition to London's sold-out monthly residency at The Book Club in Hoxton with our collaborative Electro Swing night, we are staging events in Brighton with White Mink launching the Brighton Fringe Festival to 1000 people in the Freerange Dome, and themed eveings at Glastonbury's Pussy Parlure in the Dance Village (Sun) and the Shangri-La mainstage (Sat). At Victoria Park's Paradise Gardens festival Electro Ballroom (Sat), at the Mostly Jazz festival, at Lovebox, Secret Garden Party, the Big Chill, Bestival, and many, more through-out the summer.
The brilliant "Electro Swing versus Speakeasy Jazz" double CD compiled by our own Nick Hollywood brings together the likes of Caravan Palace, Parov Stelar, Waldeck and Club Des Belugas on CD 1 with undiscovered gems re-mastered from rare and original 78's by artists including Benny Goodman, Ella Fitzgerald, Django Reinhardt and Billie Holiday on CD 2.
"A sublimely decadent collection" (Clash magazine).

"When we say hot we mean scorching. Music from the decade that invented hot!" (Tunes.co.uk)
